Riverfront Needs Attention

A letter to the Times-Picayune
04/26/2002

There are additional landmarks under the jurisdiction of the Audubon Institute that are suffering deterioration.

I refer to the condition of Woldenberg Park, the Riverwalk and the Moonwalk.

This area, which in the past was reasonably well maintained, is now littered with the trash of Super Bowl, Mardi Gras and the French Quarter Festival.

It is time for the Audubon Institute to direct the money bestowed upon it by the Woldenberg Foundation and others to clean up and maintain property under its jurisdiction.

The institute's recent slipshod maintenance and indifference to cleanliness and security is a blatant insult to its supporters as well as to the citizens of the French Quarter and visitors to our city.
