Meditation Walk

A unpublished letter to the Times-Picayune on the plight of Meditation Walk.

10/20/2002

I am one who is not thrilled with the changes in Audubon Park.

The path I used to take almost daily for the past ten years exists no longer because of the expansion of the golf course into areas that a year and a half ago were open to general users of the park.

At a public meeting held by the Audubon Commission a year ago, I was delighted to see on the "Golf Course Clubhouse Site Plan" additional trees planted along "Meditation Walk".

Now I find Meditation Walk, except for the entrance arch, is gone, the area is paved over with a roadway for golf carts, and a sign warns non-golfers to keep away.
